Mersing Souvenir House

Small enterprise, big impact, with culturally meaningful crafts
Mersing Souvenir House (MSH) is a community driven souvenir production project in Mersing, Johor, aligning with sustainable tourism practices. Launched in September 2024 under the management of the Kampung Air Puteri village committee (JPKK), MSH was established with government support, including an initial funding allocation under Malaysia’s Sejati MADANI community development programme and machinery and capacity building support from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). MSH crafts souvenirs for tourism and as corporate gifts. MSH’s mission has been twofold: to offer culturally meaningful, eco-friendly souvenirs that celebrate Mersing’s heritage and to uplift the local community’s socio-economic wellbeing, especially women and youth.
