Protecting the Reef at Batu Batu Resort

Supporting biodiversity conservation through TIC
Batu Batu Resort founded and continues to part-fund Tengah Island Conservation (TIC), a non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting the unique biodiversity within the Sultan Iskandar Marine Park. The resort plays a key role in TIC’s conservation efforts by directly funding and supporting various projects to regenerate and preserve the Mersing islands’ ecosystems. These efforts ensure that the Mersing islands remain a thriving nature sanctuary for future generations. Every tourist who stays at Batu Batu contributes to conserving Pulau Tengah’s natural ecosystems. A portion of the revenue from each stay goes toward funding TIC’s ongoing work, including the monitoring and protecting endangered species, habitat regeneration, and data collection to assess the health of the island’s marine and terrestrial environments. Since its inception, TIC has released over 30,000 hatchlings into the wild, actively preserved coral reefs, and collected essential data for long-term ecological health.
